Women’s Coats

A coat stays with you for years. Chosen when the first cold arrives, worn until spring, and often through the following winter too. Soeur designs its coats in this spirit, as wardrobe foundations: generous cuts borrowed from menswear, collars that fasten high when the cold sets in, and wool fabrics chosen to age well.

Long, mid-length or short: a question of silhouette

Length shapes the rest of the outfit. The long women’s coat falls to mid-calf, covering the whole silhouette, and often closes with a wallet-style wrap, its belt tied at the waist, like the James or Harvard coats. It dresses up jeans or a dress without a second thought. A mid-length coat allows more freedom of movement, while the short coat, cut in a boxier shape, works with high-waisted trousers without shortening the line of the leg. The oversized women’s coat, broader through the shoulders, can be worn over thick knitwear without restricting the arms. To refine the silhouette, the cut matters less than two details: the removable belt, which defines the waist, and the high collar, which lengthens the torso.

The wool fabrics of Fall–Winter 2026

Double-faced wool, finished on both sides, gives the women’s wool coat a supple feel and a shape that holds through winter. Blended with cashmere, it gains softness without losing warmth. For damp days between seasons, water-repellent wool-and-cotton gabardine takes over, while a few pieces in leather or recycled nylon lend the collection other uses. The colours belong to a wardrobe built over several seasons, from black and camel to deep browns and marled greys.

Which coat to wear with wide-leg trousers or a long skirt?

With wide-leg trousers, a short or mid-length coat reveals the movement of the leg; a long, straight style works just as well worn open. With a long skirt or dress, the coat is best worn either long enough to cover it completely or ending clearly above it, so the two hemlines do not overlap. A black or brown coat goes with every outfit of the season, while beige or camel brings a little light to grey mornings and lends a simple outfit a more refined air.

Our wool coats and our oversized coats bring together the most enveloping cuts, while the selection of winter coats brings together styles designed for the coldest days. For milder days between seasons, the jackets complete the collection.
